Introduction to American ASTM Standards
Founded in 1898, ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials International) is the world's largest organization to develop voluntary standards. As a non-profit organization, ASTM International provides a forum for the development and dissemination of voluntary consensus standards for materials, products, systems and services.
ASTM International's members are drawn from more than 100 countries around the world to develop technical documents on behalf of manufacturers, users, consumers, governments and academic institutions that form the basis for the production, management, procurement and development of regulations and regulations. These members are subordinate to one or more committees, each responsible for projects in one area, such as steel, petroleum, medical equipment, financial management, consumer products, and many other criteria.
